About Garrett
For Garrett, Asbury Park isn’t simply the city where he lives; it is home. His campaign is centered on working collaboratively with residents and local, county, and state partners to protect what makes Asbury Park special while building a stronger future for everyone who calls it home.
Garrett Giberson is a lifelong Asbury Park resident, a fourth-generation member of the community, and a longtime public servant with more than 30 years of service to his hometown.
Garrett spent more than 20 years with the Asbury Park Fire Department, retiring as Fire Marshal in 2020. His commitment to public service extends well beyond the fire department. He currently serves as Asbury Park’s Emergency Management Coordinator and Vice Chair of the Asbury Park Housing Authority. He previously served two terms on the Asbury Park Board of Education and has served the community through the Planning Board and Sunset Lake Commission.
Garrett is also President of the Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a nonprofit organization that brings residents, businesses, and visitors together to celebrate the city and its community.
With deep family roots in Asbury Park dating back to the 1920s, Garrett has witnessed the city’s challenges, growth, and transformation firsthand. He is running for Asbury Park City Council to bring his decades of public service and local experience to City Hall and focus on issues affecting residents daily, including affordability and property taxes, responsible redevelopment, affordable housing, public safety, historic preservation, infrastructure, transparency, and responsive government.
